Description:

Manufactured from 1850 to 1851 with total production around 1,000. Production was halted due to a patent infringement suit won by Colt. "WESSON'S & LEAVITT'S PATENT" marked on the action, patent marking on the rear cylinder face and Mass. Arms address on the top strap. "290" is marked on the front of the frame, underside of the back strap, and rear of the frame and "658" is marked on the barrel.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining strong traces of original blue in the protected areas and 30% plus original case colors on the action with the balance a mix of aged brown and grey patinas. The wood is also fine with a few chips at the toe of the grips and scattered minor dings. Mechanically functions fine.
