This rifle was custom built on a Springfield Model 1903 action by R. G. Owen, one of the most desirable custom rifle builders of the first half of the 20th century. The barrel is marked "R.G. OWEN./SAUQUOIT. N.Y." and fitted with a ramped and hooded beaded blade front sight, the ramp matted with fine checkering, sling swivel stud, no provision for a rear sight, and a Lyman peep sight mounted on the right of the receiver. The receiver ring is engraved with floral patterns with a stippled background, jewelled bolt, rosette and checker engraved bolt handle knob, and checkered safety with silver inlaid "READY" and "SAFE". The floorplate is engraved with masterfully executed floral scroll and deer scene, and the floral scroll continues on the trigger guard. Mounted with a finely figured, multi-point checkered stock with contrasting forend cap, pistol grip with engraved trapdoor cap, shadowline cheek piece, sling swivel stud, and a finely checkered trapdoor shotgun buttplate. Includes a letter of authenticity signed by Tom Selleck confirming it is from his personal collection.

Excellent, retains 99% blue finish with a few scattered light handling marks, a small patch of light wear and some pinpoint pitting under the finish near the magazine cutoff, and crisp engraving. The wood is also excellent with some scattered light dings and scratches, and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Tom Selleck Collection
