The barrel is marked "PAUL JAEGER JENKINTOWN, PA." as well as "CUSTOM BUILT BY DIETRICH APEL NO. 32". Apel was a German born gunsmith who emigrated to the United States in 1952 to work in his uncle Paul Jaeger's gunshop. Built on a 1948 manufactured Winchester Model 70 action with a heavy quarter ribbed barrel featuring a beaded blade front sight and four leaf rear express sight. The floorplate shows fine floral scrollwork with a gold relief inlaid elephant and a gold inlaid monogram on the trigger guard as well as matching scrollwork. Nicely figured checkered pistol grip stock with engraved and gold inlaid steel gripcap and rubber buttpad. Includes a Schmidt & Bender 1.5-4x20mm scope.

Excellent as professionally custom built, retaining 99% blue finish, minor handling evidence, a few minor marks at the barrel signatures, and sharp stock checkering. The scope optics are sharp. Mechanically excellent.
