Description:

Built to customer specifications and registered to the owner by Douglas Wesson himself, the 5,400 Registered Magnums made between 1935 and 1939 are virtually custom made revolvers and remain "state of the art" in handgun manufacture today. This example has the shortest available factory length barrel (3 1/2 inches) and features "REG. 3614" stamped on the inside of the frame, Baughman quick draw ramp mounted front sight, adjustable square notch rear sight, Magna stocks and matching serial numbers on the butt, right grip frame, cylinder, and ejector shroud. Comes with a period correct S&W .357 Registered Magnum box. The box retains the small white label on the bottom that has the correct registration number. The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver with a 3 1/2 inch barrel, Baughman quick draw front sight on ramp base, square notch rear sight, blue finish and checkered Magna grips when shipped on March 30, 1938 and delivered to W.S. Brown Co., Pittsburgh, PA.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retaining 85% original blue finish with thinning to brown-gray on the trigger guard and muzzle with edge wear on the balance. 95% of the original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are very good with minor handling marks and some wear in the checkering. Mechanically excellent. The faded box is good with staining and wear. A rare 3 1/2 inch barrel variation of the always desirable pre-WWII .357 Registered Magnum revolver.
