The Illinois Watch Co. was in operation in Springfield, Illinois from 1869 to 1948, with this specific watch being manufactured c. 1892. The watch movement is in the typical hunting configuration, size 18s, and is of 15 jewels. The back of the movement is marked with the standard Illinois Watch Co. address, "Safety Pinion", the Chalmers patent date, and is numbered "1144241". The face of the watch is white porcelain with black enameled Roman numerals and "ILLINOIS WATCH CO." at the center, nitre blue hands, and an inset chronograph. The 14K solid gold case is masterfully engraved with near full coverage floral scroll and border engraving with stag scenes on the front and back. All parts of the case are numbered "175004". Includes a lightly engraved chain with a fob featuring the Masonic square and compass.

Very fine overall, the case showing a nice bright gold appearance with minimal handling evidence and crisp engraving. The face is excellent with crisp numerals and the movement appears to function as it should.
