This is a late WWII K98 sniper rifle that was manufactured by the Gustloff factory. The receiver ring is stamped "bcd/4," the wartime code for the Gustloff-Werke and year of manufacture. The rear portion of the barrel is stamped with rifle serial number "86878" and a single "Eagle" firing proof followed by the barrel maker's code "Cc" next to an "eagle/13" proof. The barrel is fitted with the inverted "v" front sight and a standard K98 tangent rear sight graduated to 2,000 meters. It has a standard "bcd" proofed K98 bolt, serial numbered "6878" on top of the bolt handle, and fitted with a correct rough cast blued key safety. It is fitted with the wartime laminated stock and handguard, with the right side of the stock having a partial Waffenamt proof mark below the stock washer. The stock is fitted with a set of unnumbered late war stamped barrel bands, stamped trigger guard and floor plate with the trigger guard and floor plate proofed (qnw) but unnumbered. It has a checkered steel buttplate. The receiver is fitted with an all blued scope base with a small partial eagle proof on the side that is held on to the receiver with three flat headed screws. It is fitted with a long side rail type scope mount with the stamped spring steel scope bands, that is unnumbered and unproofed. A partially blued "DIALYTAN 4X" scope is installed on to the scope mount, marked "79264/bek". It comes with a paper front lens cover with a draw string, a sheet metal front sight cover, and a Mod.98 marked winter trigger assembly.

Very fine with 80% plus of the original phosphate/blue finish overall with edge and high spot wear with the floor plate in the white with blue loss wear on the trigger guard bow. The stock and handguard are both in very fine condition with a nice matching color overall showing a faint stock proof with some minor light handling marks and scratches on the sides. The scope and mount retains 95% of their blue finish overall with clear optics but hazy/cloudy glass.
