Description:

Blade front and 1000-meter tangent rear sights, with the three line "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF a/N" marking on the top of the chamber area, "crown/crown/U" and "antler" proofs on the sides, and "VON LENGERKE/& DETMOLD/NEW-YORK" marked in the center milled panel area on the left side of the frame. Von Lengerke & Detmold were New York importers and dealers active in the early 20th Century. The "crown/crown/U" is repeated on top of the bolt, with matching external numbers on the receiver, hammer, hammer housing, takedown catch and frame and a pair of 22-groove grips. The included correct pattern shoulder stock is numbered "30886" (the pistol is number 30759, less than 130 numbers apart!) on the iron, with a brass plaque marked "ONWARD" laid into the right side of the body. The pistol (minus the stock) is featured on page 65 of "The Broomhandle Pistol 1896-1936" by Wayne Erickson and Charles Pate, where it is used to illustrate the "Early Shallow-Milled Large Ring Transitional" variant of the Broomhandle. Comes with an original Mauser Broomhandle 7.63 pistol manual in German.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, with 95% of the original blue finish, showing some bright edge wear and mild handling marks. 85% bright original niter blue and straw colors on the appropriate small parts. The grips are very fine, with some light dings and scratches. The stock is very fine, with 80% blue on the hinge, traces on the attachment iron, light scratches on the wood and surface rust on the iron. Mechanically excellent.
