Description:

This revolver was manufactured in 1857 and has most of the government inspection markings. At some point, the "U.S." marking on the frame was deliberately removed. Given this revolver was manufactured prior to the Civil War, it is possible it was in the South when the war broke out and used by the Confederates. It may have also had the marking struck later on out of fear of the revolver being construed as stolen government property. It has standard markings and features, including matching serial numbers. It comes with a brown leather flap holster and a Colt's patent dual cavity bullet mold.

Rating Definition:

Very good with 40% original blue finish on the barrel, 60% original case colors visible on the loading lever, additional strong case colors in the protected areas of the frame, smooth gray-brown patina on the balance of the steel along with some spots of slight oxidation/pitting, natural aged patina on the brass grip straps, wedge spring tip absent, and mild overall wear. The grip is good and has moderate wear including some minor flakes at the lower edges. Mechanically fine. The holster is fine with moderate overall wear, including crackling, flaking, and a hole in the toe. The mold is very good with 40% original blue finish and has moderate wear including a considerable number of dings.
