Description:

An approximate 9,000 Richards conversions were reportedly manufactured in 1871-1878 based on designs by Charles B. Richards; he was also one of the designers of the Colt Single Action Army. It has a German silver blade front sight, the New York barrel address, standard cylinder scene, "COLTS/PATENT" and a series of period added punch marks visible on the left side of the frame, a punched "G" on the heel of the butt, "44 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard, "3095" on the loading gate, integral notch rear sight on the conversion ring, "G" and "N" on the back of the cylinder, and matching serial numbers on the cylinder, barrel, frame, trigger guard, and back strap.

Rating Definition:

Fine with 50% plus original case colors remaining, 25% original blue finish remaining mainly on the protected areas of the barrel and back strap, a generally smooth gray-brown patina on the flaked areas, strong patches of original silver plating in the protected areas of the front strap and otherwise mellow aged patina on the exposed brass, some dings and scratches on and around the ejector screw through the barrel lug, and generally mild overall wear. The grip is also fine and has most of the original varnish remaining, mild edge wear, and numerous scattered light scuffs and dings. Mechanically excellent.
