Description:

The Springfield Armory converted 1,108 Spencer carbines into infantry rifles around 1871 by replacing the barrels and adding a musket style forearm secured by two barrel bands and a slotted cleaning rod. This rifle has the standard markings and features.

Rating Definition:

Fine as arsenal refurbished with 40% blue finish and mild oxidation/pitting on the barrel 50% case colors, generally mild overall wear, repaired hammer spur, and mottled patina on the faded areas. The wood is very fine and has strong oiled finish, some scrapes and dings, slight cab under the lock, and a distinct "ESA" cartouche. Mechanically fine.
