Description:

This beautiful full suit of armor is built in the style commonly known as Maximilian, the typical style of the early 16th century. This armor style is so named due to it being either first made for Emperor Maximilian I, or that it was made specifically for Emperor Maximilian II many years after the style had gone out of fashion. The suit bears the flutes that are a defining feature of Maximilian armor, which are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also add to the overall structural integrity of the plate. The flutes are present on all of the major pieces of armor in the suit including the classically shaped sabatons, pauldrons, couters, and fan-plates. The armor is tastefully decorated/constructed with brass rivets running throughout the suit. The helmet is in the correct armet style with a small unadorned comb. The armor is fully articulated and strapped with leather. This suit was likely crafted in the Victorian era or the early 20th century, likely by a German shop, and exhibits the craftsmanship that would have been seen on an original full plate suit such as this. It is complete with a wooden stand for display and the entire piece stands about 77 inches tall including the base.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall, showing a generally bright finish on the plate with a few areas of light oxidation along some of the joints. The brass rivets are bright and the leather strapping is all intact and appears to be functional. This is a truly wonderful piece for anyone looking to decorate their arms room!
