Fratin (France 19th century). The artist depicts how animals are in nature and Fratin was one of the better animal sculptors of his time. This mighty stag with head up is standing on a raised rock with all four legs on the ground looking for love or combat. The stag's antlers are tilted backwards showing his spread. Signed on the bottom of the base. Very large statue. Measures 40x18 1/2x43 inches. Weighs 99 pounds.
