Manufactured in 1891. The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver with a 4 3/4 inch barrel in .45 caliber, nickel finish and type of stocks not listed when shipped to Montgomery Ward & Co. of Chicago, Illinois, on April 15, 1891. This was a three gun shipment. The barrel has the two-line Hartford address on top and "45 COLT" on the left side. The frame has the two-line patent dates marking followed by a circled Rampant Colt. Matching serial numbers are on the frame, trigger guard, and back strap. Fitted with pearl grips featuring a relief carved eagle of an unusual design on the right panel.

Fine, retaining 70% period reapplied nickel plating with the balance a smooth brown-gray patina. The grips too have the character of a well used antique sidearm: chips and handling marks but still retaining a crisp carving, illustrating it was well taken care of and appreciated by past owners. Mechanically excellent. A desirable antique Colt SAA with a wonderful eagle carved pearl grip. Provenance: The John Fox Collection.
