Description:

Manufactured c. mid-19th century by Henry C. Booth & Co. of Sheffield, England. The overall length is 14 inches with a 9 inch, scalloped spine, drop point blade with faint floral etching and marked "HENRY C. BOOTH & CO/NORFOLK WORKS/SHEFFIELD" on the left ricasso and has a short fuller on each side just below the spine. The coffin shaped handle is made up of the full visible tang with a floral German silver guard, a lion couchant on each side of the German silver pommel, and smooth antique ivory grip scales with an escutcheon on the left. The sheath is of brown leather with German silver fittings. "K110" inventory number painted on sheath tip and ricasso.

Rating Definition:

Good, the blade shows mostly a bright grey patina with faintly visible etching, some scattered patches of light surface pitting, and evidence of cleaning/sharpening. The handle is good, with the finials of the right side of the guard broken off, some moderate cracking/chipping and age discoloration of the grip scales, and generally an attractive antique patina. The sheath is fair with extensive wear and flaking.
