Description:

Manufactured around the 1870s-1880s in Middleton or Rock Falls, Connecticut. It has classic late 19th century scroll engraving, "SMITH PATENT/APRIL 16, 1873 No 38" on top of the frame on either side of the sighting groove, and DeGress silver plated "Tiffany" grips with what is likely Athena on the left panel and the 1874 patent marking around the screw on the right panel.

Rating Definition:

Very good with crisp engraving, 80% plus original nickel plating, 50% original blue on the pin, 50% original plating on the grips, aged patina on the balance of the grips, gray patina on the balance of the revolver, spots of mild pitting, and general mild overall wear. Mechanically fine. Provenance: The John Fox Collection.
