The factory letter lists this revolver as one of a pair shipped to J. Costen & Co. of Montreal, Canada, on June 6, 1889, in .44 caliber with 5 1/2 inch barrels, and blue finish. The revolver has "COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER" etched on the left side of the barrel, standard sights and barrel address, "44 CAL" on the left side of the trigger guard, partial serial number "192" on the back of the cylinder, full serial number on the butt, Rampant Colt trademark grips, and a lanyard loop.

Fine with 30% original blue finish concentrated most heavily on the sides of the frame, legible etched panel, smooth gray and brown patina on most of the balance, some minor pitting, mild dings and scratches, and general mild overall wear. The grips are fair and have partially smoothed checkering and sections absent on the rear edges. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The John Fox Collection.
