Bohemian gunmaker Thaddaus Poltz is recorded as working in Karlovy Vary c.1763-1788. The pistols have brass blade front sights, "Thaddaus Poltz" and scroll engraving on the locks, ornate brass furniture with primarily scroll patterns, and distinctive eagle head pommels with pierced beaks that can double as lanyard loops. The stocks have raised relief scroll carving. They come in a modern custom display case with a key.

Good with bright polished barrel and lock exhibiting some mild pitting, natural aged patina on the brass, broken barrel lug, cracked wrist and trigger guard tang, cracked forend tip with absent horn cap, and distinct marking and patterns. Mechanically fine. The custom case is very good and has some storage wear.
