The lock was likely made by George Halfhide (Halfhead) in the early to mid-1700s. Halfhide was an ordnance contractor in 1719-1720. The two-stage brass barrel flares at the muzzle to approximately 1 inch diameter (bore estimated above), is marked "LONDON" on top with a flourish of floral scroll and has "crown/GP", "crown/WE" makers mark, and "crown/V" proofs. The lock has flourish of scroll engraving and is marked "HALFHIDE". The side plate is styled like a dragon similar to some other known Halfhide examples. The walnut stock is of high quality and has a bag style rounded butt.

Fine, showing a mixture of bright and attractive antique patina on the brass and the iron showing a medium grey patina with some scattered light pitting, and clear markings overall. The wood is also fine with some scattered minor dings. Mechanically fine.
