Description:

The flat rib has a dovetailed blade front sight and "NEEDHAM & Co" and "26 PICCADILLY LONDON" ahead of and to the rear of the three-leaf folding "express" sights which are graduated for 100, 200, and 300 yards. The locks are signed "NEEDHAM & Co" and have sliding safety switches ahead of the hammers and detailed scroll engraving. The furniture is also primarily scroll engraved, and the round patch box and is engraved with an elephant scene. The serial number on the trigger guard is faint but appears to rear "990." The barrels are London proofed. The checkered stock has a nice cheek piece and a sling swivel eye.

Rating Definition:

Fine overall with most of the refinished brown remaining on the barrel along with some nice twist patterns, mostly gray patina on the locks and furniture, areas of faded markings and engraving, some mild cleaned pitting, some repairs in the stock mainly at the edges of the forend and toe, crisp recut checkering, and general moderate overall wear. Mechanically fine. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection.
