Manufactured in circa 1883. With browned damascus barrels each engraved with a band of stylized foliage at the breech end, solid concave rib with bead front sight, signed “W.W. GREENER. 68 HAYMARKET LONDON. WINNER AT THE LONDON GUN TRIALS 1875, 1877, 1878 & 1879”, and “PATENT TREBLE/No. 5084/ WEDGE FAST” and engraved with scrollwork at the rib extension. Action with carved percussion fences and blued toplever. Casehardened rebounding side locks each signed “W.W. GREENER”. Blued trigger guard. Border and scroll engraved throughout. Well figured 14 1/4 inch straight hand stock with dark horn drop points, checkered dark horn butt plate, and checkered grip and forearm, the latter with dark horn tip and Deeley & Edge fastener. The barrels and action struck with Birmingham “Not For Ball” black powder proof marks and Birmingham nitro reproof marks, the barrels also struck “WWG”. Proved at 19.0mm / 18.9mm, measuring 19.0mm / 18.9mm, 2 1/2 inch (65mm) chambers, minimum wall thickness 0.015+ and 0.023. Weight 6 lbs. 9.3 oz.

Barrels retaining 99% rebrowned finish, rib signature worn, attractive damascus pattern. Action and locks with traces, mostly faded, of original casehardened finish, engraving clear. Stock expertly refinished, checkering well defined. Mechanically excellent. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection.
