Blued chopper lump barrels marked "HOLLAND & HOLLAND 98. NEW BOND STREET, LONDON" on the right and "WINNERS OF ALL THE "FIELD" RIFLE TRIALS, LONDON" on the left. Ramped blade front sight and raised matted quarter rib with three leaf (100, 200, and 300 yard) express rear sight. The flats of the barrels struck with period London proof marks and "40 GRS CORDITE", "375", and "270 GRS BULLET" on each barrel. Bolstered side lock action, with removable firing pin discs, extended upper tang with manual safety with gold inlaid "SAFE", and smooth nitre blue double triggers. Both locks signed "HOLLAND & HOLLAND" and the action is marked " THE ROYAL/HAMMERLESS" on the underside. The action and side locks are beautifully engraved scroll typical of the Royal Model. The number "1" is engraved and gold filled on the quarter rib near the breech and on the release lever. Finely figured walnut pistol grip stock with raised cheekpiece, checkered wrist and forearm, case hardened grip cap with trap compartment, and horn buttplate. The underside of the butt has a gold initial oval with a German "Adelskrone/L". The Adelskrone was a symbol used by the untitled nobility of Germany until 1919. The forearm has a push button release and the exposed parts of the iron engraved with the same scroll. A pair of blued sling mounts complete the rifle. Length of pull is 14 11/16 inches. Weight is 9 lbs 10 oz.

Very fine as professionally refurbished, as is common on fine British sporting arms. The barrels show 95% blue finish with some rubbing and applied finish along the left breech area with otherwise minor handling evidence. The action and locks are a mostly silver patina with flashes of case colors. The wood is also very fine with a few tiny nicks along the high edges, a small repair at the front right of the forend, loose grip cap, and overall sharp checkering on the wrist and forend. Mechanically excellent.
