Blued steel dovetailed lump barrels with solid matted rib, single steel bead sight, 2 3/4 inch chambers with ejectors, and modified/extra full. Barrels marked "EXPRESSLY MADE FOR Wm. F. BEAL, NEW YORK N.Y./BY GEBR. ADAMY, SUHL- GERMANY/GRADE 8". No solid information can be located on Beal at this juncture. The casehardened sideplated box lock action has a cross bolt fastener, double triggers, side clips, and cocking indicators. The action is engraved with four separate game scenes, a roosting capersaille on the trigger guard, foxes stalking partridges in a forest scene on the left lock, nesting woodcock feeding its young on the bottom of the receiver, and setters flushing mallards on the right lock. The balance of the action and tangs are covered in fine scrollwork. Finely figured straight grip stock with raised comb and splinter forend display multi-point checkering and a gold inscription shield with a "W.F.B." monogram. Includes a period hardwood takedown case. Bore and stock measurements (R/L): bores 9 inches from the breech proved and measured at "13/1" (.719 inches); choke constrictions .015/.045 inches; minimum wall thickness .039/.030 inches; drop at comb 1 1/4 inches; drop at heel 3 1/8 inches; length of pull 14 7/16 inches; weight 7 lbs 3 oz.

Very fine, retaining 98% blue finish with an area of an applied blue near the muzzle, 80% plus original case colors, light handling evidence, and some very minor spotting at the breech end of the left barrel. The wood is also very fine with some very minor scratches and sharp checkering. The case is also very fine. Mechanically excellent.
