Manufactured in 1998, this pistol is listed in the included factory letter as a factory experimental prototype testing a .22 LR conversion unit on a Colt commander. The factory letter also mentions the visible welds on each side of the slide where it was shortened to Commander size. The pistol otherwise shows standard markings and features of the Colt Lightweight Commander and conversion unit. The letter states that the pistol was kept at the Colt factory until it was shipped to San Francisco, California on 16 October 2008.

Very fine as a factory experimental prototype, retains 95% original blue finish with the slide showing a slight plum hue and touch up to the welds, some scattered light edge/cycling wear, and some light handling marks. The grips are also very fine with a few light handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
