A closed-bolt blowback-operated submachine gun, the Reising Model 50 saw action with the U.S. Marines in the Pacific as a substitute for the M1 Thompson, though they found their best success as defensive weapons for war-essential industries and as patrol carbines for American police forces. Blade front and elevation adjustable peep rear sights, with a flash hider/muzzle break, cooling fins on the barrel, three-line New Haven address near the ejector port, and three-position selector/safety on the right side. Smooth pistol grip stock with a cocking lever on the underside, a leather sling, lightly ribbed buttplate, and an inventory tag marked "PENNA. STATE POLICE/PROPERTY TICKET NO./012306" on the left side. The included transport case is marked "CONTRA COSTA COUNTY/SHERIFFS OFFICE" in red stencil on the lid, and contains 3 extra magazines, two empty boxes of U.S. 45 ACP ammo, and a copy of U.S. Combat Bookshelf's "Reising Submachine Guns".

Fine as professionally refinished, showing 95% plus high polish blue finish, showing some mild sub-surface pitting and light handling marks. The selector switch maintains bright case colors. The stock is fair as repaired, with a pinned and glued split which runs from the magazine well back into the wrist, along with some mild dents and scratches overall. The case shows mild wear and staining. The action is a bit stiff, but mechanically the SMG is in good order. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) that is classified as a "Curios or Relic" as defined in 27 CFR, 478.11. These weapons are still subject to the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
