Dated "1944", this rifle was manufactured by Birmingham Small Arms Shirley and selected for upgrade to the "T" sniper pattern. Manufactured using hand-picked service rifles as the base, the 4 Mark I T was Britain's sniper rifle from WWII into the 1960s. Blade front and folding ladder rear sights, with the fixed "battle" peep sight properly removed from the latter, and the left side of the socket marked "M47C/1944/L38673/TR". The bolt is numbered to match the socket, as is the underside of the forearm. The Number 32 Mark III scope bears red "W" and blue "B" stencils, and is marked "AK&S No27990/1945" on the body, with a matching number on the ring base. The buttstock is numbered to match the scope on the wrist, with a raised cheekpiece, leather sling, and a brass buttplate. A green painted transit case is included, as is a canvas cover, extra sling, and a metal scope case numbered to match both the rifle and scope.

Exceptionally fine as arsenal overhauled, with 95% of the black finish overall, showing mild wear and handling marks, along with some light spotting. The stock is fine, with contrasting color in the cheekpiece, evidence of light sanding, and mild handling marks. The optics are crisp, and the adjustments appear to be in fine order. The case is very good, with spliced repairs at the ends of the lid, the carry handles cut off, and general wear and tear appropriate to age and use. Mechanically excellent.
