Description:

Manufactured in 1941, the Robert Sears inspected Colts marked the transition point from Colt's high polish blue to the Parkerization treatment that would become the standard for the rest of the war. Blade and flat top notch sights, with the Rampant Colt bisected address and patents on the matching numbered slide, "R.S." stamped frame (left side and top) with "W/VP" and "69" marked trigger guard, short milled trigger, wide hammer, checkered arched mainspring housing, checkered hardwood grips, full blue magazine with "R" and "C-R" markings on the base, and a "COLT 45 AUTO/P" barrel with a small "G" ahead of the lug. The sides of the non-factory replacement mainspring housing feature a set of machined grooves, most likely to accommodate a shoulder stock (not included; study the law carefully before trying to combine a stock with this item). The slide is numbered "726/936," 24 off from the frame; while not documented, this sort of close numbered mix is often associated with period of use accidental swaps during cleaning or maintenance.

Rating Definition:

Fine, with 60% plus original blue finish, showing rough oxidization concentrated on the slide, bright edge wear, areas of brown patina and mild handling marks. The replacement mainspring housing shows a darker black finish. The grips are very good, with some dings and flat spots. Mechanically excellent.
