Description:

Manufactured at an unknown date, the receiver of this M1 Garand only bears 2 markings; the "D-6528291" drawing number on the right receiver leg and "BURRING/SAMPLE" on the receiver in lieu of the traditional manufacturer nomenclature. While no provenance was supplied with the rifle, it appears that this was a receiver pulled from the production line and kept as a reference piece or tool room model. While generally it is everything a Garand receiver should be, there are a few rough spots visible, particularly in the op rod and bolt channels, as well as along the edges of the receiver legs. It was kept as an educational tool for H&R's inspection crews, as a way to show them in-person what they should be looking out for when checking the machining on the M1 Garand. All marked parts are Harrington & Richardson, including the "6-55" dated barrel and relief cut operating rod. The stock is unmarked, with a checkered steel buttplate.

Rating Definition:

Very fine overall. The receiver is taking on a plum patina, with bright edges and some roughness on the left side, with the other steel components showing strong gray parkerization with mild handling marks. The stock is also very fine, with mild dings and handling marks. Mechanically excellent.
