Description:

Introduced in 1935, this is one of only 869 Registered Magnums manufactured with a 5 inch barrel. It has a Call bead front sight, adjustable square notch rear sight, "REG. 2122" stamped on the inside of the frame, and matching serial numbers on the butt, right grip panel, cylinder, and ejector shroud. The accompanying factory letter lists this revolver with a 5 inch barrel, Call gold bead front sight, square notch rear sight, blue finish and Magna stocks when shipped to Von Lengerke & Antoine of Chicago, Illinois, on May 3, 1937. Like the factory letter, the included original registration certificate confirms the barrel length and sights as well as the registration number for Alfred C. Finn of Houston, Texas. The rare registration certificate shipping tube is also included and is addressed to Alfred C. Finn with a partial Texas address remaining. Comes with two period correct Registered Magnum boxes. One box is the original as it has the serial number and registration number handwritten on a white label on the underside. The box contains two knurled screwdrivers, an extra rear sight insert, "Helpful Hints" pamphlet, cleaning rod, and S&W guarantee and caution leaflets. Alfred Charles Finn (1883-1964) was a highly successful Texas architect considered to be a leader in the state's Art Deco movement. His portfolio included the Gulf Building in 1929 which at that time the tallest building in Texas, San Jacinto Monument in Baytown, People's National Bank Building in Tyler, U.S. Post Office in Galveston, and Ezekiel W. Cullen Building on the University of Houston campus.

Rating Definition:

Excellent, retaining 98% original blue finish with some light edge wear, some minor handling marks and a cylinder drag line. 98% plus of the original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are also excellent with some minor handling marks and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. Both boxes are fine with some fading and minor wear. A solid example of a well-documented 5 inch Registered Magnum.
