Description:

The accompanying factory letter states that this revolver was shipped on August 13, 1921, to Victor H. Wesson (1890-1945), Smith & Wesson plant superintendent and member of the Wesson family. The letter confirms the barrel length, target sights, finish and checkered non-medallion grips. It has standard S&W factory markings, matching serial numbers on the butt, cylinder, barrel and right grip panel and assembly number "99941" on the yoke and crane. According to the "Encyclopedia of Massachusetts," Victor Wesson "was personally responsible for many of the improvements on Smith & Wesson revolvers. In his official capacity with the firm, he had but one standard, that of turning out small arms which would continue to maintain the firm's enviable reputation for producing nothing but products of the highest quality. He was held in the highest respect by every employee of the firm." Provenance: Chad Gripp collection.

Rating Definition:

Excellent plus. The revolver retains over 99% original blue finish showing faint traces of a cylinder drag line. 99% plus original case colors are present on the hammer and trigger. The grips are excellent with extremely limited mild handling marks and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent. A high conditioned S&W revolver made more desirable by being owned by one of the more important, leading members of the Wesson family.
