Description:

Offered here is a 2 inch barreled Model 43, which, as stated by Supica and Nahas in "Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson," only a "small quantity [are] known [to have] shipped with 2" barrels in nickel or blue finish." According to the consignor, this revolver is pictured in that book on page 214. The accompanying factory letter lists this rare revolver with a 2 inch barrel, square butt, and nickel finish when shipped on September 4, 1959 and delivered to Rex Firearms Co. of New York City. Often referred to as "the Tiffany's of the gun world," Rex Firearms specialized in selling one-of-a-kinds. The 2 inch barreled variations of the Model 43 were never cataloged by S&W. The right grip panel is numbered to the gun. Comes with a correct period model blue box with the end label listing the 2 inch barrel, S&W "Important!" card, and factory tools (screwdriver and bore rod with brush attachment).

Rating Definition:

Excellent overall, retaining 99% plus original nickel plating and casehardening with a few minor handling marks, a cylinder drag line and crisp grip checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is very good showing some minor wear. This is a great opportunity to acquire a rarely encountered 2 inch barreled Model 43 for your growing S&W collection.
