Description:

This very attractive print of a group of buffalo grazing is not marked with a title but is signed "La Huffman" on the lower right and has "07B" visible at the corner on the lower left. It measures 9 1/2 by 19 1/2 inches. The back of the print has "L.A. HUFFMAN PHOTO, MILES CITY, MONT." twice. Laton Alton Huffman (1854-1931) was among the few western photographers who documented the remaining buffalo herds as their numbers dwindled in the late 19th century. A different buffalo print is marked as taken on the northern Montana prairies in 1879 giving a possible date for this image.

Rating Definition:

Very good with a distinct image, minor staining, a small tear at the lower right corner, and mild wear on the frame. Needs rescued to the frame. Definitely a great western image for any home and especially suited for display among other western items such as a buffalo rifle. Provenance: The John Fox Collection.
