Manufactured in 1880 as a Second Model with dust cover rail retained by two screws and dust cover with rear serrations and the desirable "WINCHESTER EXPRESS/.50 CAL. 95 GRS." marking. It is fitted with a special order set trigger. The top of the barrel is marked with the two-line address/King's patent marking and "50 CAL" on the top flat, and is fitted with dovetailed combination front and folding ladder rear sights. The bottom of the cartridge elevator is marked "50-95", model designation on the upper tang, and the serial number on the lower tang. Mounted with a smooth forearm and straight grip stock with a trapdoor crescent buttplate (cleaning rod not included). The included factory letter confirms the current configuration including the set trigger, as well as receipt at the warehouse on 11 March 1881 and shipment on 31 March 1881 in order number 24493.

Very good, retains strong traces of original blue finish primarily in sheltered areas and traces of the original nitre blue on the loading gate with the balance mostly a smooth grey patina and a few scattered patches of light pitting. The wood is good with some scattered minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
