Manufactured in 1898. The left side of the lower tang is marked "6235 CF RB" and "6235" is repeated in the stock inlet. The scarce, special order, 22 inch half octagon barrel is fitted with special order Lyman combination front, three-leaf rear with platinum inlaid center lines, and Lyman tang mounted peep sights. The other special order features include the half magazine and takedown configuration. It is mounted with a nicely figured, special order, "I" pattern checkered forearm and pistol grip stock with a hard rubber grip cap and a special order hard rubber shotgun buttplate. The included factory letter confirms the current configuration, including the special order features, as well as receipt at the warehouse on 28 September 1898 and shipment the same day to order number 7029. According to George Madis in "The Winchester Book" only one of every 1,420 Model 1894 rifles was manufactured with a shorter than standard barrel. That feature, along with the other documented special order specifications on this rifle, make it both unique and desirable!

Fine, retains 50% original high polish blue finish, primarily on the barrel and magazine, traces of the vibrant original case colors on the lever, and traces of original nitre blue with the balance mostly a smooth grey patina with a patch of light pitting on the upper left of the receiver. The wood is very good with some minor dings and scratches scattered throughout, a hairline crack visible in the left of the wrist, and mostly well-defined checkering. Mechanically excellent.
