Manufactured in 1903 as a third model with integral dust cover rail and dust cover with serrations at the rear. The accompanying factory letter confirms the highly desirable special order half octagon barrel in .22 Long, plain trigger and Lyman rear and Rocky Mountain front sights. The rifle was received in the warehouse on September 1, 1903 and shipped on September 3. The half octagon barrel is marked with the two-line address/patent dates marking ahead of the rear sight and "22 LONG" at the breech. The receiver has the 'step' in front of the ejection port found on .22, .32, and .38 caliber Winchester Model 1873 rifles. The rifle is fitted with a German silver blade front sight, an elevation adjustable rear sight and a tang peep sight. The brass cartridge elevator is marked "22 CAL/LONG." The serial number is stamped on the lower tang. The forearm and straight grip stock are straight grain walnut. The buttstock is fitted with a solid crescent buttplate.

Exceptionally fine. The barrel, magazine, forend cap and receiver retain 85% plus original blue finish with thinning to brown on the balance. The casehardened buttplate is mostly a mixed crisp brown-gray patina. Patterns of muted original case colors remain on the lever. 70% original case colors remain on the hammer. The wood is very fine with some scattered minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
