Manufactured in 1912. This carbine has been subsequently ornately engraved by Arturo Rojas of Dallas, Texas. The bottom of the frame is signed "PRIMITIVO ROJAS H. GRABADOR." The carbine features game scenes on both sides of the receiver. The left side features two elk surrounded by a floral pattern while the right side depicts a hunter aiming a fleeing deer. The top of the bolt and receiver, as well as the lever and floorplate have also been embellished with a floral scrollwork pattern. A hound game scene is depicted on the buttplate. The foregrip and stock set have also been hand carved by Rojas. The foregrip and wrist have been given a floral scrollwork. The carving on the left side of the stock is a depiction of the Mexican eagle. The stock's pistol grip has been carved into the shape of a roaring lion that stares back at the shooter. Many of Rojas' rifles feature an animal head carved into them. The ornate designs on the rifle follow Rojas' design philosophy which comes out of respect for the firearm. In an interview he stated, " The gun, thanks to it, we have certain freedoms. But it lacks, lets call it, good taste. A custom gun looks pretty. It removes the ugliness."

Very fine as elaborately custom embellished, retaining 75% high polished finish with plum coloration on the balance. The magazine tube has four small dents, one towards the barrel band at the muzzle and three towards the foregrip. Foregrip is excellent with very few minor handling marks and crisp carving. The stock is also very fine with some minor handling marks. Mechanically functions, but needs work as the loading gate was reinstalled improperly. This is an extraordinary example of Arturo Rojas' work.
