Description:

This sword has "F H. Lambert" in scrip on the right and "Philadelphia" on the left just above the ricasso. Similar swords have been identified as American grenadier or artillery officer swords dating to approximately 1820. It has a 27 inch lightly curved blade with deep single fuller and niter blue panels on each side with gold accented engraving patterns which include patriotic designs, leafy vines, floral themes, and armament. The right side ricasso has an unclear stamp. The brass hilt has a cut-through guard, ribbed black grip with golden rope, and rounded pommel. It comes with a black leather scabbard with brass chape and locket with a frog stud.

Rating Definition:

Very good. The blade is in very fine condition and retains nearly all of the niter blue and gilt finish and bright polish. The hilt has remnants of the gilding with primarily an aged patina. The grip is fine with only a small amount of the twisted brass wire wrap remaining near the pommel. The leather scabbard is fine with some flaking and mild wear to the leather and an aged patina on the brass. This is a very attractive sword overall.
