The Model 1862 Police was one of the last percussion revolvers introduced by Colt, and was and remains very popular. It combines the portability of the incredibly popular Model 1849 Pocket with more stopping power. This revolver was manufactured in 1870 and has the standard markings and features, including all matching serial numbers (blank wedge). It comes in a fitted case with a single sided eagle pattern pocket flask, dual cavity "COLT'S/PATENT" bullet mold marked "31 Pkt" with a .36 bullet cavity and .31 ball cavity, unopened cap tin, two extra nipples, and a few bullets.

Very fine with 85% original blue finish, 50% original case colors, traces of original silver plating, smooth brown patina on the balance of the cylinder, gray-brown patina on the balance of the frame, and attractive natural aged patina on the brass grip frame. The grip is also very fine and retains most of the original high polish varnish and has some mild lower edge wear and some general minor scrapes and dings. Mechanically fine. The case and accessories are fine and have mild age and storage related wear such as some dings on the flask and fading and staining on the moderately worn, faded lining. The mold is refinished. Definitely a highly attractive solid representative example of the Model 1862 Police.
