Description:

Pierre Joseph Jarre is best known for his 1850s and 1860s harmonica pistols. The pistol was adapted from pinfire for use with the included percussion insert and is marked "PAR BREVET D'INV/-JARRE-" in gold on the relief engraved lock and has a dovetailed blade front sight, silver plated Damascus barrel with a St. Etienne proof beneath, integral notch rear sight at the breech, border and floral scroll engraving, and a fluted ebonized grip. Pulling backwards on the trigger guard allows the barrel to tip forward and the insert, which has an attached nipple and shield, to be removed.

Rating Definition:

Good with nearly all of the lightly aged silver plating on the barrel, 30% original gold plating, brown and aged patina on the faded areas, and some minor marks. The insert has a split in the case. The slightly undersized grip is fine and has chipping at the junctions with the action and toe, cracks above the hammer and at the cross screw, and some minor nicks and scratches. Mechanically excellent.
