Manufactured in the late 19th century by Arthur and Thomas Watson and featuring London black powder and Birmingham nitro reproofs. It has a beaded blade front sight, three leaf rear sight (one standing, two folding), "WATSON BROS. MAKERS. 4 PALL MALL. LONDON. S.W." signed behind the rear sight, "WATSON BROS" signed back action locks with rebounding hammers, tight English scroll and rosette engraving, checkered forearm and pistol grip, sling swivel eyes on the rib and butt, "8/116" stamped on the stock behind the blank oval escutcheon, and 14 1/4 inch length of pull. Includes certificate of proof issued by the Birmingham Gun Barrel Proof House. The case has "A.M.C." marked on top and on the sides of the exterior, a reproduction Watson Bros. label inside, a sling, and a patch punch. Provenance: The Malcolm King Collection

Fine overall as partially refinished with 95% plus refinished blue on the barrels, 20% original case colors concentrated in protected areas, silver-gray patina on the balance, crisp engraving, generally distinct markings other than one set of proofs on the barrels, crisp checkering, small slivers absent from the edge of the wrist, a small dent in the butt, and general minor wear. Mechanically fine. The case is fine with mild overall wear and fresh relined interior.
