This Registered Magnum, no. 213, is one of only 735 Registered Magnums manufactured with an 8 3/4 inch barrel. The accompanying factory letter states the revolver was shipped on June 20, 1935 and sold to Providence Police Department, Walter C. Sherman, Providence, RI with an 8 3/4 inch barrel, Call gold bead front sight, "rear sight to match", blue finish and checkered walnut grips with grip adaptors unattached. The accompanying S&W registration certificate confirms the 8 3/4 inch barrel, Call gold bead front sight, and square notch rear sight as well as listing Walter C. Sherman of Rumford, RI as the recipient. The back of the right grip panel is stamped "WCS," the initials for Walter C. Sherman. Matching serial numbers are on the butt, right grip panel, cylinder and barrel shroud. The original box has the correct white label on the underside featuring the serial number and registered number. While Walter C. Sherman's affiliation with the Providence Police Department remains unknown, we did discover that he was the president of the Newport Rifle Club around the time this revolver shipped. As of this writing, the Newport Rifle Club continues to be the oldest active gun club in America, in operation daily since 1876.

Excellent, retaining 98% original blue finish showing some slight flaking on the frame and a cylinder drag line. Nearly all original case colors remain on the hammer and trigger. The grips are also excellent with a few minor handling marks and crisp checkering. Action would benefit from a good cleaning. The box is very fine showing minimal wear.
