Description:

This is a very early three digit example of a commercial, fully automatic M1A rifle as produced by Springfield Armory Inc. in Geneseo, IL. This example is a copy of the original U.S. Government M14 rifle as used during Vietnam. The receiver marked "U.S. RIFLE/7.62-mm-M1A/SPRINGFIELD ARMORY/000908". It is currently fitted with GI marked parts as follows, a HRA marked 1963 dated GI standard weight chrome lined barrel, an "HRT" marked M14 bolt assembly, "HRA" marked trigger housing and HRA Op-rod, with the balance of Springfield Armory commercial parts. The side of the receiver has the correct fully automatic selector components installed. It has a standard front and rear sight set. It is currently fitted in a GI type M14E2 hardwood stock with a perforated brown plastic handguard (making it a SAW, "Squad Automatic Weapon"). The stock does not carry any proof marks; however, it is the same configuration as the GI model with the front folding foregrip, hinged buttplate with the heavy buttpad. It is complete with a GI type M2 folding bipod, two 20 round magazines and a GI style web sling.

Rating Definition:

Very fine with 98% of the parkerized finish overall with edge and high spot wear with minor bolt wear from hand cycling the action and or light firing. The stock and handguard are both in excellent condition with only minor handling marks on the sides. NOTE: This weapon is a National Firearms Act (NFA), fully transferable Class 3, which is registered with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, (BATFE) under the provisions of 18 U.S.C. Chapter 44 and 27 CFR part 478.
