Manufactured post World War I for commercial export to English speaking country. Pre-war 1896 commercial Broomhandle Mauser with short barrel, three line "WAFFENFABRIK/MAUSER/OBERNDORF a/N" marking on the top of the chamber area with "Germany" marked in the center milled panel area on the left side and "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER/OBERNDORF A NECKAR" on the right side. The left flat of the barrel and top of the bolt are marked with "crown/crown/U" proofs. Fitted with checkered and monogrammed hard rubber grips, both numbered to the gun.

Excellent, retains 90% plus original blue finish and 70% of the original nitre blue on small parts with the balance thinned to a smooth brown or grey patina, primarily on edges, high spots, and the back strap. The grips are also excellent with some light handling marks and crisp checkering overall. Mechanically excellent.
