The accompanying factory letters lists these guns as being chambered in .45 Long Colt with nickel finish and fire blue small parts and Type "B" engraving by Master Engraver Dennis Kies. "A" is listed with 7 1/2 inch barrel, "B" with 5 1/2 inch barrel. and "C" with 4 3/4 inch barrel. The letter also mentions that this set has a bird's head grip, a feature which made its debut on the Model 1877. This set was shipped to Stacy Williams Co. in Birmingham, Alabama on September 22, 1989. This set is similar and confirms grip material to a set from a previous auction which was part of the same Colt Custom Shop order. This, however, is a true set in that all the guns were engraved in the same month and year by Dennis Kies alone. Included with the three revolvers is a Colt three revolver French fit case and the original box for each gun.

Excellent overall, retaining 99% plus original nickel finish with limited handling marks and crisp engraving. Mechanically needs adjustment as the second notch of the hammer does not have a defined click into place, otherwise excellent. Case is excellent with limited storage and handling marks and light high edge wear on the lining. Boxes are good with storage and handling marks.
