Description:

Beals Navy Model revolvers were manufactured from 1860 to 1862 with a total production of approximately 14,500. It has been estimated that only 400-500, like this example, were sold to the U.S. Army in the serial range 13000-15000 and martially marked . The top barrel flat is marked "BEALS' PATENT. SEPT. 14. 1858./MANUFACTURED BY REMINGTONS' ILION. N.Y" Matching serial number marked on the barrel, cylinder, and inside left grip frame. Single letter inspector marks are found on most of the major components. German silver cone front sight, brass trigger guard and wing cylinder pin. Boxed script cartouche "CGC" on the left grip panel.

Rating Definition:

Fine, retaining 50% original blue finish on the barrel and frame with flaking and mottled brown patina. 70% plus attractive original blue finish on the cylinder with some light flaking, scattered light scratches, and a light cylinder drag line. Grips are very fine with some light scattered dents and scratches, small chips around the flats, and a crisp cartouche. Mechanically excellent. One of the nicer examples of a scarce martially inspected Beals revolver.
