Blued steel, chopper lump barrels with single brass bead on the smooth concave rib and chambers marked a 70 mm (2 3/4 inches) with ejectors. The right barrel is marked "GRIFFIN & HOWE" and there are bands of engraving around either breech and some floral engraving on the rib. Coin finished sidelock action displaying a pair of pheasants on the left lockplate and a pair of pigeons on the right all surrounded by floral scroll on a punchdot background. Both lockplates are signed "V. Alberdi" for the noted Spanish engraver Vicente Alberdi and "GRIFFIN & HOWE" is marked in gold on the underside of the action. Double triggers, bushed firing pins, and a tang mounted automatic safety. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered walnut splinter forearm with Anson button release and engraved fittings and straight grip stock with tear drop carved flats and checkered bare butt. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameter 9 inches from the breech both marked and measured 18.5 mm (.728 inches); choke constriction .007/.015 inches; minimum wall thickness .031/.029 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/4 inch drop at heel; 14 3/4 inch length of pull; cast-off; weight 6 lbs 13 oz.
