Manufactured in the post-World War II era in the Ferlach, Austria region, home to some of the greatest hunting arms manufacturers in the world. This particular rifle was made by Josef Just, who has placed his maker's mark "Josef Just - Ferlach" on the forward section of the matted barrel rib. The rifle also displays Just's maker's number "24" as part of the serial number. Raised beaded blade front sight with fixed rear on top of the quarter rib section, along with a classic German style claw mount for the scope. Standard Austrian proofs are present under the forearm, as are the caliber markings ".22H." and "6.5-57R" for the upper and lower barrels respectively, as well as the import marking. The scalloped action is coin finished and features full coverage scrollwork with beautifully sculpted and deep relief chiseled bolsters. The action also displays fine intricate semi-relief gold scrollwork on either side and a gold border around a bust of a roe deer in a forest scene on the underside. The scope rings and upper tang show matching scroll engraving, as does the triggerguard, with the addition of matching gold inlay. The barrel release is skeletonized showing the skill of the engraver. Beautiful, highly figured, multi-point checkered European walnut three piece forearm with engraved fittings and pistol grip stock with contrasting horn grip cap, carved cheekpiece, sling swivels, and Pachmayr Old English rubber recoil pad. Includes a Zeiss Diavari-C 3-9x36mm scope mounted on the rifle. 14 3/8 inch length of pull. Weight (scope mounted) 8 lbs.

Excellent, retaining 99% original finishes with minor handling evidence. The wood is very fine with a few minor marks and sharp checkering. The scope optics are sharp. Mechanically excellent.
