Description:

Developed by Winchester exploring the idea of producing single shot pistols based on the action of the Model 1900/1902 rifles. George Madis believed that less than 100 of these prototypes were produced. There may have actually been a small number commercially produced and sold through dealers in Australia and New Zealand. A design drawing of this particular example is pictured in "The Winchester Book" on page 574, and a similar example is pictured on 573. Along with the measurements appearing to match, the design drawing also appears to confirm the polished frame of this pistol. The only marking is "2631" on the right side of the barrel. Includes consignor research and a copy of an article from "The Gun Report" which also shows very similar pistols.

Rating Definition:

Very fine, retains 95% plus of the original blue finish and the frame showing 98% polished nickel plating with some scattered light dings and scratches and the general imperfections associated with a factory prototype. The grips are very fine with some minor dings and scratches throughout. Mechanically excellent.
