Blued, Winchester proofed steel chopper lump barrels featuring a steel mid-bead and white front on the matted, vent rib which is marked "CUSTOM BUILT WINCHESTER". The barrels also have 2 1/2 inch wedges engraved at both breeches, standard Model 21 markings, jeweled flats, lumps, and ejectors, 3 inch chambers with ejectors, a "1" on the forearm lug, and chokes marked "MOD"/"FULL". The blued action bares the same scroll engraving as the barrel wedges surrounding four semi-relief gold inlaid game scenes in the classic Winchester 21-6 pattern. The four scenes are dog on point on the right, two pheasant in a field on the underside, a second dog on the left, and a bust of a dog's head on the triggerguard. Along with the gold inlay and scroll the engraving shows tasteful use of the negative space. Beautiful, exhibition grade, Winchester pattern 21-B fluer-de-lis checkered walnut beavertail forearm with rotary latch, ebony wood tip insert, and engraved fittings and pistol grip stock with engraved blued steel grip cap marked "GRAND/AMERICAN", blank inscription oval, and leather wrapped recoil pad. The gun includes an extra 20 gauge, 26 inch barrel set with chokes marked "WS-1"/"WS-2", 3 inch chambers with ejectors, and a "2" on the forearm lug. The extra barrel set also has its own walnut forearm of the same exceptional quality and wedges of engraving at the breeches. Both included Cody Firearms Museum letters confirm the configuration of the set when its inspection was finished on November 10, 1983. The letters both state that the gun was "Engraved by Hartleib" (likely a factory error and meant to be Neil Hartleip) and "Sold to Jiminez" (no information on Jiminez could be located at this time). Also included is a leather bound takedown case for the set with canvas cover, nickel oiler, and four nickel snap caps. Barrel measurements for set "2" (R/L): bores 9 inches from the breech .617/.621 inches; choke constriction .004(jug)/.012 inches; minimum wall thickness .021/.013 inches. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bores 9 inches from the breech .615/.617 inches; choke constriction .019/.024 inches; minimum wall thickness .024/.030 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 5/8 inch drop at heel; 13 15/16 inch length of pull; weight 7 lbs 1 oz.

Excellent overall, retaining 98% original blue and gold finishes, minor handling evidence, and a single area of dark pitting visible underneath the forearm on the left barrel of set "1". The wood is also excellent with a few minor marks and sharp carving and checkering. Some scuffs are visible on the forearms with the forearm on barrel set no. 1 showing some scratches or cracking about the mounting hardware. The extra barrel set is excellent. The case and accessories are very fine-excellent. Mechanically excellent.
