Blue, Winchester proof steel chopper lump barrels with steel mid and red front bead sights on the concave, matted solid rib, single band of engraving at either breech, standard markings on the flats, chokes marked "WS-2"/WS-1", and 2 3/4 inch chambers with automatic ejectors. The blue action bears the beautifully executed 21-4 pattern engraving consisting of scrollwork surrounding a pair of mallards on the left, a pair of quail on the right, and two setters on point on the underside. The triggerguard is engraved with matching scroll as well as a gold inlaid "J/J/S". Single selective trigger and automatic tang mounted safety. Nicely figured, multi-point checkered walnut beavertail forearm with engraved fittings and rotary style release and straight grip stock with Winchester rubber recoil pad. The chokes, wood, and barrel length are confirmed by the included factory letter when the gun passed final inspection on October 14, 1948, as is the later engraving carried out by the factory on May 4, 1953 in addition to the gold inlaid "J/J/S" on the triggerguard. The gun was ordered by a James J. Secor of Bell and Beckwith, Toledo, OH. James Jay Secor was a partner in the investment firm Bell & Beckwith and passed away on July 24, 1960 in Detroit, MI. Barrel and stock measurements (R/L): bore diameters 9 inches from the breech .619/.616 inches; choke constriction .015/.001 (jug) inches; minimum wall thickness .024/.023 inches; 1 1/2 inch drop at comb; 2 1/2 inch drop at heel; 14 inch length of pull; weight 6 lbs 12 oz.

Very fine as factory refurbished/upgraded, retaining 85% blue finish, much of the loss on the underside of the action with some areas showing what appears to be cleaned oxidation turned a brown patina. The wood is also very fine with a few minor dings and scratches and crisp checkering. Mechanically excellent.
