Blued, Winchester steel barrels, featuring dual white bead sights (rear bead absent), raised vent rib marked "CUSTOM MADE FOR VIOLA M. GLASS", 3 inch chambers with ejectors, and choked "WS1"/modified. The blued receiver shows engraving and gold inlay carried out by renowned Master Engraver Alvin A. White, who has signed the work "A.A.WHITE" on the underside of the receiver. The engraving consists of fine scroll engraving surrounding semi-relief gold inlaid game scenes of a grouse in flight with a tree in the background on the left of the receiver, a duck in flight with a tree in the background on the right, and a pointer and pheasant on the underside. The gold inlays are all on textured backgrounds. The trigger guard, tangs, and release lever all have matching scroll engraving with gold inlaid "V/G" on the underside of the trigger guard. Beautifully figured, multi-point checkered, walnut beavertail forend and pistol grip stock with engraved grip cap, engraved hardware, "V/M/G" engraved inscription oval, and rubber buttpad. Mrs. Viola Glass was the New York State Women's Trap Shooting Champion in 1968 and was the pistol champion in 1954, 1955, and 1956. Viola Glass was also the wife of Herbert J. Glass Sr. and mother of Herbert Glass Jr., and matriarch of the well-respected family of fine arms dealers. Includes original box with end label marked "For Viola M. Glass". Excellent, retaining 97% plus original blue, limited minor spotting, receiver aged to a slight plum, a few minor marks on the wood, and sharp stock checkering. Mechanically excellent. The box is fine with evidence of water marks on the lid.
